I think the traffic island is very unsuitable street architecture for this road as this will inevitably occur again, at further potential cost to the tax payer. It also poses direct danger to the vehicles that often speed along this stretch of road at night, but the traffic engineer would not know that because he doesn&#39;t work at those hours.<br /><br />It is my understanding that local residents need some sort of traffic calming and a safe crossing point, particularly at peak times. I think they requested speed bumps which seem a far more logical solution for this environment.
